Data Deletion Procedures
Users have the right to request deletion of their personal data and account from the Lotus Plant Care application. This document outlines the procedures for data deletion requests.
Method 1: In-Application Deletion
Step 1: Access Settings
- Launch the Lotus Plant Care application
- Navigate to the main menu (hamburger icon)
- Select "Settings"
Step 2: Initiate Account Deletion
- Scroll to the account management section
- Select "Delete Account"
- Confirm deletion when prompted
- Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted
Warning: Account deletion is irreversible. All plant data, photographs, care logs, and account information will be permanently removed.
Method 2: Email Deletion Request
If you are unable to access the application or prefer to request deletion via email:
Required Information
Email Content Requirements
Your deletion request must include:
- The email address associated with your Lotus Plant Care account
- Your account name or user identifier (if known)
- Explicit confirmation: "I request deletion of all my data from Lotus Plant Care"
Processing Time: Deletion requests submitted via email will be confirmed within 48-72 hours.
Data Subject to Deletion
Upon account deletion, the following data categories will be permanently removed:
Account Data
- Email address and account credentials
- User name and profile information
- Authentication tokens and sessions
Plant Data
- All plant profiles and entries
- Uploaded plant photographs
- Plant nicknames, locations, and descriptive information
- Complete care log history (watering, fertilizing, pruning, repotting records)
Application Preferences
- Language settings
- Theme preferences
- Application configuration data
Storage Data
- All images stored in Supabase Storage infrastructure
- All database records associated with the account
Deletion Timeline
Immediate Actions (Within 24 Hours)
- Account access privileges revoked
- Active database records removed
- Photographs deleted from storage infrastructure
- Authentication tokens invalidated
- Login credentials rendered inoperative
Complete Deletion (Within 30 Days)
- All backup copies removed from systems
- Cached data cleared from temporary storage
- Database records permanently expunged
- No residual account traces remain in systems
Data Retention Exceptions
Certain data may be retained for limited periods due to legal or technical requirements:
Legal Requirements
- Transaction Logs: Retained if required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR compliance logs)
- Fraud Prevention: Anonymous security logs without personal identifiers
- Legal Proceedings: Data relevant to ongoing or potential legal matters
Retention Duration: Typically 30-90 days, unless legally mandated for longer periods.
Technical Limitations
- Unsubscribe Records: Maintained to prevent re-addition to communication lists
- Aggregated Analytics: Anonymous, non-identifiable usage statistics
Note: These records contain no personally identifiable information.
Third-Party Service Data Deletion
Supabase (Database & Storage)
- All database records permanently deleted
- All photographs in Supabase Storage removed
- Row Level Security ensures no orphaned data
PlantNet API
- No persistent data storage (temporary identification processing only)
- No deletion action required
Google OAuth
- OAuth authentication tokens invalidated
- Your Google account remains unaffected
Note: You may revoke application access independently through your Google account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Facebook OAuth
- OAuth authentication tokens invalidated
- Your Facebook account remains unaffected
Note: You may remove application access independently through Facebook settings at facebook.com/settings?tab=applications.
Account Reactivation
Data Recovery
Not Available. Deleted data cannot be recovered. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.
New Account Creation
Permitted. You may create a new account at any time using:
- The same email address
- A different email address
- Google, Facebook, or Apple authentication
Important: New accounts begin with no data. Previously deleted information cannot be restored.
Alternatives to Account Deletion
If you are uncertain about permanently deleting your account, consider these alternatives:
1. Temporary Logout
- Log out of the application
- Account data remains preserved
- Access can be restored at any time
2. Selective Data Deletion
- Delete specific plant entries instead of entire account
- Navigate to Plant Details and select "Delete Plant"
- Account remains active with other data preserved
3. Data Export Prior to Deletion
- Request data export before account deletion

- Proceed with deletion after receiving export
Guest Mode Data
For users utilizing Guest Mode (without account registration):
- All data stored locally on device only
- No data transmitted to servers
- Complete data removal via application uninstallation

GDPR Rights (European Union Users)
Users in the European Union have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
Right to be Forgotten
- Request immediate deletion of all personal data
- Compliance within 30 days
